The Bounce Came Before the ProofS&P 500 futures rose 0.5% early Monday and Nasdaq 100 futures 0.9%, after the S&P 500 fell 1.8% on Friday. WTI fell 4.6% to $99.33 and Brent 4.4% to $108.39. The 10-year yield closed Friday at 4.93%. Bitcoin held near $77,800, about 3% above Strategy's (MSTR) average cost. Kalshi's December hike contract held at 71 cents. Market Implication Monday's tape is pricing relief that nothing has confirmed yet. Crude feeds the inflation outlook behind that 71-cent hike bet, yet the contract held while WTI fell 4.6%. Stock futures moved with the cheaper barrel, and rate traders gave it no credit. If WTI holds under $100 through the vote and the hike bet still won't budge, that bet is pricing something other than oil.

WHAT ACTUALLY MOVED MARKETS Crude Fell 4% as Another Tanker Was HitIranian negotiators left talks with Qatari mediators on Sunday. A draft proposal is circulating and a follow-up meeting is possible, an official briefed on the talks said. Weekend reports said Washington wants more time for diplomacy. Iran's foreign ministry said Hormuz cannot reopen until the U.S. naval blockade ends and its other demands are met. Crude fell more than 4% anyway. On Sunday evening, a tanker was struck by two projectiles 72 nautical miles east of Saudi Arabia's Ras Al Khafji, Britain's maritime trade agency said. That is the northern Gulf, far from Hormuz. Saudi crude exports rose in October from September despite attacks, two of three ship-tracking firms said. Kpler, the third, shows a decline. All three counts are preliminary. Goldman Sachs said Brent could reach $140 in 2027 if Gulf output stays 3.5 million barrels a day below 2025 levels. Structural Setup Crude's 4% drop came after weekend reports that Washington wants more time for diplomacy, not after any easing in the shipping lanes. The export data is split, with two trackers showing Saudi shipments up in October and Kpler showing them down. That leaves the premium resting on which count holds, not on the attack count. If Kpler's lower count holds as the data is revised, Monday's discount rests on fewer barrels than the price assumes.
Chips Bounced. Intel Didn't.AMD (AMD) was indicated about 1.8% higher, after Friday's 10.9% drop. Palantir (PLTR) was up about 1.1% after losing 6.3%. Intel (INTC) was indicated about 1% lower after Friday's 28.6% plunge following a weak outlook. Intel has already reported. The others haven't. Apple (AAPL) and Palantir report after today's close. AMD reports Tuesday. Arm (ARM) and Qualcomm (QCOM) report Wednesday, after Friday drops of 10% and 11.1%. Binance reopened withdrawals on all 15 first-phase networks Sunday. Customers pulled a net $3.64 billion in the first nine and a half hours, about 2.1% of the $171 billion it holds for them, the exchange said. DefiLlama's on-chain tally put 24-hour net outflows near $5.8 billion. The zero-knowledge proof of its reserves is due by Tuesday. Sector Read The bounce is sorting chip stocks by whether their report is still ahead. Intel has no scheduled event left to reprice it this week, while AMD, Arm and Qualcomm each carry one the market can still buy into. That puts Monday's bid in the names with a catalyst ahead, not in a verdict on Friday. If AMD gives back its gain after Tuesday's report, Friday's selling was a repricing.

The Vote Opens the Window Oil Just DiscountedPresident Trump has said the U.S. will not strike Iran before Tuesday's midterms. Israel's Netanyahu pressed for strikes right after the vote, while Trump wants more time for diplomacy, Axios reported, citing U.S. and Israeli sources. Strike contracts price that gap. Polymarket's contract on the ceasefire holding through Nov. 15 traded near 54 cents early Monday. Election bets firmed into the vote. Kalshi's Democratic Senate contract rose to 73 cents from 71 after 237,919 contracts traded in one second Sunday. Watch Signal Washington's calendar, not the talks, sets the window traders are paying for. The no-strike pledge runs only until the vote, so the contracts hold their risk in the days after it. A 54-cent Nov. 15 price still carries close to even odds of a strike, while crude now trades as if that risk shrank. If the Nov. 15 contract falls below 50 cents after Tuesday, oil's Monday discount is the trade that unwinds.
Credit Money Is Buying What Companies Used to HoldBlackstone's (BX) credit and insurance arm and four Canadian pension investors agreed to buy 49.9% of a Mitsubishi holding company. It owns Mitsubishi's 15% stake in LNG Canada. Mitsubishi keeps control and all of its LNG offtake. Blackstone says the group will invest $3.1 billion. Mitsubishi says the transaction is valued at about $1.6 billion. Neither has reconciled the figures. Apollo (APO) launched European Credit Company the same day, with more than €10 billion of lending capacity. Apollo did not say how much of that capacity is equity. It reports Tuesday. The Read In both deals, insurance and pension money is doing work a corporate balance sheet or a bank once did. A minority stake lets Mitsubishi bring in capital without giving up control or volume, and gives the buyers a share of an operating LNG asset. The price of that capital is the number nobody has pinned down, since one deal already carries two figures. If Apollo's report Tuesday breaks out what backs the €10 billion, investors get their first look at how this new lending is funded.

Monday bought relief before anyone delivered it. Oil fell while another tanker took fire. Chips bounced into reports they haven't filed. Binance reopened before its zero-knowledge proof. Tuesday's vote is the cleanest test. It opens the window the strike contracts price. If WTI holds under $100 and the Nov. 15 contract stays above 50 cents into Wednesday, the relief has a floor. If either breaks, the next letter starts with oil.
